Other Crystals

Yes you read that correctly you can use other crystals to charge and cleanse your crystals. This can be in the form of smaller or bigger crystals, charging/clearing plates or crystal grids. This big bonus of this method is that it is safe for any crystal. Many of the types of crystals usually used for this are considered self-clearing such as selenite, clear quartz, carnelian or citrine. If you are using a stone which is not considered to be self-clearing such as amethyst for example make sure that you have cleansed your stone to ensure it does not impart any negative energy that it may be holding. 

 

Crystals often used for charging/cleansing include but are not limited to:

 

  • Selenite

  • Clear quartz

  • Carnelian

  • Hematite

  • Citrine

Charging & Clearing Plates

You can also charging/clearing plates, these are often made from other crystals, most commonly self-clearing crystals. Some crystals such as Selenite or clear quartz are known for their vibrational potency which not only means that they can self-charge but that they can amplify and purity the energy of other crystals. 

 

In order to use your charging plate simply place your crystal on the plate or bowl and leave it there for 24 hours. You can even pop it in the window sill so that it can also benefit from the light of the moon and sun - just be sure to check that the light won’t damage your crystals first.

Large Crystals

Larger crystals such as quartz clusters, selenite slabs or amethyst geodes can be used to clear and charge smaller stones.

 

In order to use a larger crystal to clear/charge your stone simply place the crystal you are wanting to charge directly inside or on top of any of these stones. It is believed that the larger crystal’s vibrations will remove any of the negative or inharmonious energies found in the resting stone.

Small Crystals

As these stones are smaller than the one you are wanting to charge/cleanse you may need more of them. 

 

To use smaller crystals simply pop the crystals you will be using to clean your stone into an appropriately sized bowl and set the crystal you are wanting to cleanse/charge on top of them. Leave it for 24 hours.

Crystal Grids

Crystals grids are created by the purposeful placement of crystals in a geometric pattern placed in order to support a particular intention such as cleansing your crystals, protection or finding clarity. Slightly more complex than other methods, this one might take a bit of practice to get right. You can pick a specific design or just go with your intuition. If you are not yet confident enough to trust your gut you can find lots of resources online with printable grid guides, you can even buy cloths or plates with grid guides laid out for you. 

 

Crystal grids can be used for much more than just charging/cleansing your crystals and certain grids can aid with your intentions such as using multiples of 4 in a grid can help with finding direction and clarity while multiples of 3 is useful to aid manifestation. Circle grids can help with protection while a square grid can help with boundaries.

 

In order to charge your crystals using a grid, gather the crystals you are going to be using for charging, a good one to start with is quartz (note that these should be cleansed first themselves) and point them inward in a circle keeping the intention clear in your mind as you do so. Mindfully place the crystal or stone you want to cleanse/charge in the centre of the circle. Once your crystals are in place you will need to activate your grid, this is where you will reinforce the intention. There are a few different ways to activate it but the two easiest is with voice or with a wand such as a selenite wand. 

 

  • Voice - to use voice to activate your grid take a moment to ground yourself, centre your energy and clear your mind. Once you are ready, speak aloud the intention or purpose of the grid. You can reinforce this with visualisation as you do so if you wish.

  • A Wand -  Using a wand, such as a selenite or clear quartz wand trace the grid design ensuring you draw a line between each of the crystals to connect them. Use visualisation or your imagination to help you with this. You could also use your finger. It really is the intention behind the action which counts with this step. 

 

Once your grid has been activated all you need to do is leave your crystal to cleanse/charge for 24 hours.
