General Information
History
Golden Healer, also known as golden quartz or golden healer quartz is a clear quartz crystal that has natural inclusions of golden or yellow iron oxide minerals. The first recorded use of this striking gemstone was in the 1800s after being discovered by a German mineralogist, Johann Friedrich Bottiger, in the Saxony region of Germany.
Geography
Although this quartz crystal has been found world wide it is primarily sourced in the United States, United Kingdom or Madagascar. The highest ratio of this particular crystal has been mined from Wales.
Geology
Golden Healer belongs to the quartz family and are given their striking colour by iron oxide. Through the process of weathering the iron becomes trapped in the crystal lattice and leaches into existing fracture lines within the crystal.
Physical Properties
Appearance
This beautiful sunny stone is simply stunning. Ranging in colour from yellow to gold. Its characteristic hue is crisscrossed with golden inclusions, these can be random or appear more cohesive in swirls or starbursts and can appear to be lit by a golden inner light.
Moh's Scale
As with the majority of quartz crystals, the golden healer is a hardy stone, measuring 7 on the Mohs scale.
Cleaning & Care
If golden healer becomes dirty and loses its shine you can simply clean it by rubbing it lightly with a clean, soft cloth. If needed you can clean it with a soft cloth and warm, soapy water to remove any dirt clinging to the stone before drying.
