History
Flower agate, sometimes referred to as ‘cherry blossom agate’ was only discovered in 2018 in Madagascar. Although it is a relatively newly discovered crystal it is one that is growing in popularity and who can blame anyone for wanting to have a piece of this stunning crystal in their collection?
Geography
Although agate is generally rather common and found all over the world, flower agate has only been found in Madagascar so far.
Geology
This beautiful stone is a type of Agate with opaque Chalcedony inclusions which resemble tiny floral plumes. So far it has only been found crystalised in the form of masses.
Appearance
This stunning crystal owes its name to its unique markings, translucent crystal made from agate with opaque inclusions of chalcedony that often resemble flowers. These plumes are not merely flat growths within the agate but 3D bursts of colour. Most commonly found in shades of pink though it can include shades of red, green and brown with white formations, flower agate can sometimes also be found with druzy crystals.
Moh's Scale
Flower agate measures 6.5 - 7 on the Moh’s hardness scale.
Cleaning & Care
Should your Flower Agate become dirty you can simply clean it by rubbing it lightly with a clean, soft, untreated cloth. If needed you can clean it with a soft cloth and warm, soapy water to remove any dirt clinging to the stone before drying carefully.
